Another Open Welcome win for Chilean

ROCKWOOD – Samuel Parot of Chile made it two consecutive Open Welcome titles Thursday night when he guided Romance Du Criolo to the win at Angelstone Tournaments’ main stadium.

Parot and Romance Du Criolo completed The National Open Welcome jump-off with a fault-free ride in 38.328 seconds to win by more than a second over runner-up Keean White of Angelstone and Corette who had a time of 39.528.

Beth Underhill and Count Me In were third in 40.670.

Others with clear rounds in the jump-off were Leslie Howard and Gentille Van Spieveld (40.713), Ali Wolff and Casall (41.630) and Daniel Coyle and Dillinger (45.074).

Six other horse/rider combinations made it to the jump-off with fault-free runs in the opening round.

A total of 37 horse/rider combinations competed in the event.

Parot won last week’s Champions Open Welcome aboard Quick Du Pottier.

Feature event of the meet is Saturday’s $86,600 Grand Prix. It’s to go at 8 p.m.

The $36,000 Sunday Classic is scheduled for Sunday at 11 a.m.
