Another slim win for Gryphon soccer women

GUELPH – Another game, another 1-0 win for the Guelph Gryphons in OUA women’s soccer league play.

The Gryphs recorded their third consecutive 1-0 victory Sunday as they nipped the McMaster Marauders at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.

Vanessa Mazur struck for the game’s only goal and her first of the season as she scored in the 78th minute. Tori Hinchliffe set up the goal.

Libby Brenneman picked up her fourth shutout of the season that included a stop on a penalty shot in the first half.

The Gryphs lead the West Division at 4-0-2 while McMaster falls to fifth at 2-2-2.

The win stretched Guelph’s unbeaten streak in OUA playoff and regular-season play to 10 games. Their last setback in OUA action was a 5-2 loss to the Western Mustangs Oct. 21, 2017.

The Gryphs have a pair of games against the Algoma Thunderbirds (0-3-1) next weekend at the Gryphon Soccer Complex. The teams are to play there Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m.
