Ashe-Cawley, Balous Day Date claim Delta Hotel & Dwight Crane Grand Prix title

ROCKWOOD — Molly Ashe-Cawley rode Balous Day Date to the win in the $86,000 Delta Hotel and Dwight Crane Grand Prix Saturday night at Angelwood Farms.

Ashe-Cawley and Balous Day Date had two clear rounds, the final one coming in a jump-off, to win the title.

Ali Wolff of the U.S. guided Quirie 2 to a second-place finish. After a clear run in the first round, they had four faults in the second round.

Keann White of Rockwood and For Freedom Z were third while Conor Swail of Ireland guided Dillinger to a fourth-place finish and Grafton to a fifth-place finish.

A total of 24 horse/rider combinations competed in the feature event of Angelstone’s The Champions meet.

Angelstone’s summer tour continues with this week’s The National meet and next week’s The International meet. Feature events are the $86,000 Engle & Völkers Grand Prix Aug. 27 at 8 p.m. for The National meet and the $86,000 Groupby Grand Prix Sept. 3 at 8 p.m. for The International meet.
