Bishop Mac claims fifth in boys’ hockey

GUELPH — The Bishop Macdonell Celtics secured a fifth-place finish in the District 4/10 high school boys’ hockey league standings with a 3-2 victory over the Centennial Spartans Tuesday at the West End arena.

Cole Martin, Trent DiCicco and Ian Alexander scored a goal apiece for Bishop Mac.

Jake Neamtu and Thomas Taylor responded with single goals for Centennial.

Centre Wellington Falcons finished atop the league at 9-0-0-0 and were followed by the Orangeville Bears (7-2-0-0, Erin Raiders (6-3-0-0), Norwell Varsity Reds (4-3-2-0), Bishop Mac (3-4-1-1), Ross Royals (3-5-1-0), Guelph CVI Green Gaels (2-6-0-1) and Centennial Spartans (0-7-0-2).

Tuesday was the final day of the regular season. Playoffs are to start next week.

Chris Ferri had a hat trick for Erin while Liam Magill and Christian Vagenas also scored. Connor Toogood recorded the shutout in net for the Raiders.
