Bishop Mac edged in semifinals by eventual champs

KINCARDINE – The Bishop Macdonell Celtics saw their season come to an end following the semifinals of the CWOSSA high school boys’ A/AA hockey championship tournament Tuesday.

The Celtics yielded a goal midway through the opening period and that turned out to be the lone goal of the game as Bishop Mac was edged 1-0 by the Sacred Heart Crusaders of Walkerton.

Kyle Durrer scored the game’s only goal.

Sacred Heart went on to edge the St. David Celtics of Waterloo 5-4 in the final.

Nicholas Freiburger, Curtis Ruetz, Dawson Fahrer, Tristen Zettel and Carter Buehlow scored for Sacred Heart in the gold-medal match while Brendan Bauer had two goals for St. David and Brayden Crawford and Ryan Suljak had one apiece.
