Bishop Mac gets win, tie in field hockey

GUELPH – The Bishop Macdonell Celtics opened the District 4/10 high school girls’ field hockey season with a win and tie on their own field Monday.

The Celtics defeated the Wellington Heights Wolverines of Mount Forest 5-0 in their opening game before battling the Orangeville Bears to a scoreless draw.

Julia Billings scored a pair of goals against Wellington Heights while Sidney Claerbout, Katiana DeLiberali and Georgia Merriman added single goals.

The Orangeville Bears also finished opening day with a win and a tie as the Bears shut out the Wolverines 6-0.

Chloe Miller hit for a hat trick for Orangeville while Madison Elliott, Megan Rooke and Ashley MacAdam added single goals.
