Celtics looking for consolation at OFSAA

OSHAWA – The Bishop Macdonell Celtics are aiming for a spot in the consolation final at the OFSAA provincial high school A/AA girls’ rugby championship tournament Wednesday following a win and a loss Tuesday.

The 10th-ranked Celtics suffered a 37-10 loss to second-ranked Bayside Red Devils of Quinte West at Ajax. Christina Nadalin scored both tries.

Bishop Mac bounced back from that setback with a 24-19 victory over eighth-ranked Ashbury College Colts of Ottawa. Nadalin had two tries and two converts in the game while Kathleen Curran and Camila Tyszko each had one try.

The Celtics are to play sixth-ranked Sutton Sabres Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. in a consolation semifinal.

Winner advances to the consolation final at 12:30 p.m. at Ajax. The loser will play in the consolation runner-up match at 11:30 a.m. at Ajax.

The gold-medal match is slated for 2:30 p.m. at Oshawa and it pits top-seeded Trenton Tigers against second-seeded Bayside.
