Central Blues leave Gargoyles behind

ETOBICOKE – The Grand River Gargoyles saw the Central Blues pull away in the second half for a 102-63 Australian Football League Ontario victory at Humber College Saturday.

The Gargs trailed 23-6 at the end of the first quarter, but narrowed the gap to three points (30-27) by halftime. However, the Blues scored seven goals in the third quarter to shoot ahead 75-33.

Andrew Matthews had nine goals for the Gargs while Matthew Grydziuszko had the other one.

Tristan Thormann led Central with five goals while Daniel McCullough had three, Sarib Mahmood, Maxwell Bidstrup and Richard Taylor each had two and John Roberts scored one.

The Gargs trail the 10-team league with a 2-9-0 record and 44.78 percentage. Central is sixth at 4-7-0 and 70.67 percentage.

The Gargs are to host the Etobicoke Kangaroos (4-7-0) Saturday at 12 noon at Margaret Greene Park.
