Centre Wellington Falcons seeded 10th for OFSAA tournament

MIDLAND – The District 10 and CWOSSA champion Centre Wellington Falcons have been seeded 10th for next week’s OFSAA provincial high school AAA girls’ hockey championship tournament.

The tournament is slated for March 20 to 22 with pool play March 20 and the morning of March 21. The quarter-finals are to go the afternoon of March 21 while the semifinals are scheduled for the morning of March 22 with the medal games following – bronze at 12:45 p.m. and gold at 1:30 p.m.

The Fergus squad has been placed in a pool with third-seed St. Maximilian Kolbe Mustangs of Aurora, fifth-seed Bishop Tonnos Titans of Ancaster and 16th-seed St. Peter’s Panthers of Barrie for pool play in the 16-team tournament.

The Falcons are to play Bishop Tonnos March 20 at 8 a.m. at Elmvale arena, Kolbe March 20 at 12:25 p.m. at Midland Centennial and St. Peter’s March 21 at 8 a.m. at Penetang arena.

Top two in each pool advance to the quarter-finals.

If the Falcons advance, they’re to play March 21 either at 12:25 p.m. at Midland Minor Hockey arena or at 12:40 p.m. at Midland Centennial.

If they reach the semifinals, they’re to play March 22 at 9 a.m. at Midland Centennial arena.

Other teams in the tournament, in order of seeding are top seeds Medway Cowboys of Arva, second-seed Uxbridge Tigers, fourth-seed St. Peter’s Saints of Peterborough, sixth-seed Loretto Abbey Gators of North York, seventh-seed Lawrence Park Panthers of Toronto, eighth-seed Our Lady of Mount Carmel Lions of Mississauga, ninth-seed St. Thomas of Villanova Wildcats of LaSalle, 11th-seed Blessed Trinity Thunder of Grimsby, 12th seed Eastview Wildcats of Barrie, 13th-seed Sacred Heart Huskies of Ottawa, 14th-seed Holy Cross Crusaders of Kingston and 15th-seed St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears of North Bay.
