Centre Wellington soars in boys’ hockey opener

FERGUS – The Centre Wellington Falcons opened the District 4/10 boys’ hockey season with a 9-1 victory over the Guelph CVI Green Gaels Thursday at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex.

McCaiden Dixon, Ryan Mueller and Caleb Willmets connected for two goals apiece for Centre Wellington while Mitch Bernier, Trent Spear and Dean Sealey had single goals.

Jacob Elunes scored the lone goal for GCVI.

This season the league is operating with eight teams. It ran with 13 teams in the 2014-15 season.

Gone from last season are the St. James Lions, Centre Dufferin Royals of Shelburne and Westside Thunder of Orangeville while GCVI has returned to the league following a one-year absence.
