Champions crowned at D4/10 tennis tournament
GUELPH — Centennial Spartans had a pair of champions crowned at the District 4/10 high school tennis championships Friday at the Royal City Tennis Club.
Thomas Heyland of Centennial won the boys’ singles’ title with a win over Noah Slater of Bishop Macdonell in the final.
Centennial’s Spencer Brown and Ratul Sarker took the boys’ doubles’ crown by beating Tristan Darroch and Landon Kells of Centre Wellington in the final.
Fallon Darroch of Centre Wellington claimed the girls’ singles’ title with a victory over Bishop Mac’s Sophia Nash in the final.
Sophia Klassen and Sarah Sheahan of St. James won the girls’ doubles’ championship final with a win over Melissa Sun and Alex Jamieson of Bishop Mac.
Bishop Mac got its D4/10 championship title in mixed doubles when Sebastian Trujilio and Camilla Trujilio defeated Ben Bradshaw and Daniela Butora of Lourdes in the final.
Top finishers at the D4/10 meet advance to CWOSSA championship tournament to be held Friday at Waterloo’s Northfield Racquet Club.
