Daniel Coyle guides Fortis Fortuna to The International Kubota Open Welcome victory

ROCKWOOD — Fortis Fortuna with Daniel Coyle aboard blazed through the jump-off course to win The International’s $35,000 Kubota Open Welcome Thursday night at Angelstone Farms.

The International is the third and final meet of Angelstone’s Summer Tour.

Fortis Fortuna/Daniel Coyle was the fastest horse/rider combination of the five who had clear rounds in the jump off of the 13 who qualified for the jump off with clear first rounds. They completed the jump-off course in 32.468 seconds to be more than three seconds faster than runners-up Chs Inception/Andrew Bourns. They recorded a time of 35.749 seconds.

Third went to Aldine/Jordan MacPherson in 36.324 while Rubens Ls La Silla/Vanessa Mannix were fourth in 37.279 and Just Stella L/Melissandre Lincourt were fifth in 37.843.

Others with clear trips in the first round were Corette/Keean White, Dillinger/Conor Swail, Dixson/Ian Millar, Blue’s Yer Daddy/Kelley Robinson, Baranus/Ian Millar, Count Me In/Beth Underhill, Sombrero Brimbells/Erynn Ballard and Delansa/Wim Janssen.

Feature event of the meet is Saturday’s $40,000 Groupby Grand Prix. There are 24 horse/rider combinations entered for the 8 p.m. event.

There are 12 entries for Sunday’s $35,000 PDI Sunday Classic that is to start at 11 a.m.
