Davidson gets shutout as Gryphon soccer women win

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. – Brooke Davidson picked up the first shutout of her OUA women’s soccer career Saturday when she made two saves in a 3-0 win over the Algoma Thunderbirds.

The Gryphs scored once in the first half and twice in the second for the win.

Jacqueline Goulart, Alana MacLean and Venessa Mazur had a goal apiece while Victoria Gunnarson had an assist.

The Gryphs dominated Algoma, taking 31 shots while Algoma took seven.

The result put an end to a two-game winless streak for the Gryphs and it leaves them tied for second in the West Division at 4-2-1 while Algoma is ninth at 0-5-0.

The two teams are to meet again Sunday at Sault Ste. Marie. Game time is 12 p.m.
