Eagles, Royals claim shutout wins in D4 soccer

GUELPH — The Emmanuel Christian Eagles collected their third shutout victory of the District 4 high school girls’ soccer season Wednesday when they blanked the Centre Dufferin Royals 6-0 at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.

Suz Vandermeulen picked up the shutout in net for the Eagles.

Olivia Vanleeuwen and Tessa Vanveen netted two goals apiece while single goals were scored by Nicole Vandermeulen and Julie Selles.

Emmanuel Christian is second in the league at 3-1-0 while the Westside Thunder leads at 4-0-0. Norwell Varsity Reds are third at 1-3-0 and Centre Dufferin is fourth at 0-4-0.

Makayla McBride had two goals for Westside while Shaelynn Comeau, Beatriz Gil, Bailey Wilson and Reegan Scott added single goals.
