Eagles win to create first-place tie in D4 senior hoops

MOUNT FOREST – The Emmanuel Christian Eagles moved into a tie for first place in the District 4 high schools senior girls’ basketball league with a 39-28 victory over the Wellington Heights Wolverines Monday.

The results leave the two teams tied atop the league with 6-1 records.

Cayla Lodder led Emmanuel Christian with 13 points.

Mikaela Dagelinckx had eight for Wellington Heights while Mackenna Iles added seven and Dannika Bauman netted six.

Despite the loss, the Wolverines will win a tiebreaker between the two teams by a single point as Wellington Heights defeated the Eagles by 12 points (35-23) Oct. 4 at Fergus.


Centre Dufferin 36 Erin 16

Taylor Bury connected for 17 points for Centre Dufferin while Kayla Skorski collected 13.

Savannah Sketchley had six for Erin while Mackenzie Collings had four.

Nina Rodrigues gathered 12 points for Wellington Heights.

Nicole VanderMeulen had seven for Emmanuel Christian.


Centre Dufferin 56 Erin 36

Shannon Bury had a game-high 28 points for Centre Dufferin while Franny McGowan followed with 13.

Kyla Warren led Erin with 17 points and Morgan McLean added nine.
