Edmonton Oilers select Samorukov in 3rd round

CHICAGO – The Edmonton Oilers made Guelph Storm defenceman Dmitri Samorukov their third-round pick of the NHL draft Saturday.

The Oilers used the 22nd pick of the third round, 84th overall, to take Samorukov.

A native of Volgograd, Russia, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound Samorukov had four goals and 16 assists in 67 games with the Storm in the 2016-17 season, his first with the team. He also had 41 minutes in penalties.

In three international tournaments with Russia, Samorukov two goals and 10 assists in 17 games.
