Elora Rocks swept aside by Huron East

ELORA – The Huron East Centenaires scored four times in a span of just over five and a half minutes early in the first period on their way to a 6-4 victory over the Elora Rocks Friday night at the Elora and District Community Centre.

The win gave Huron East a four-game sweep of their WOAA senior men’s hockey league’s A semifinal series.

The Centenaires, who outshot the Rocks 48-45, led 4-1 at the end of the first period and 6-3 after the second.

Chad Herron was involved in all four goals for the Rocks as he scored the first one 48 seconds into the game and assisted on the other three. Spencer Gourlay scored two of those goals and also assisted on a goal while Tristan Rae netted the other goal. Brady Prosic had two assists.

Collin Hartwick and Reubin Smith scored twice each for Huron East while Calvin Penny and Scott Henderson added single goals. Phil Aslin and Adam Corbett each had two assists while Josh Gaynor, Penny and Chris Corbett had one each.

Alex Hutcheson picked up the win in net for Huron East while Gary Walser took the loss.

Huron East advances to the best-of-seven A final against the Milverton 4 Wheel Drives who finished their semifinal sweep of the Shallow Lake Crushers a week earlier.
