Emmanuel Christian rules CWOSSA A boys’ soccer

DELHI – The Emmanuel Christian Eagles of Fergus have gained a berth in the provincial high school OFSAA A boys’ soccer championship tournament by claiming the CWOSSA title Thursday.

The Eagles blanked the Walkerton Rivercats 2-0 in the final.

That win followed a 1-0 victory over the Woodland Christian Cavaliers of Breslau in the semifinals.

Walkerton edged the Waterford Wolves in the other semifinal.

Scoring details were not reported.

The OFSAA A tournament is to be held next week in Fort Erie.

 

AAA Girls

KITCHENER — The Ross Royals were ousted from the tournament Thursday with a 1-0 loss to the Waterloo CI Vikings in the semifinals.

Maddy Kim scored for Waterloo CI while Allie McDowell had the shutout.

St. Mary’s Eagles of Kitchener, 2-1 winners over Grand River Renegades of Kitchener in the other semifinal, took the final 3-0 over Waterloo CI.

 

AA Girls

BRANTFORD – St. James Lions were knocked out of the tournament in the semifinals with a 4-2 loss in penalty kicks to the Paris Panthers.

Scoring details were not reported.

St. David Celtics of Waterloo won the tournament title with a 1-0 win over Paris in the final.

St. David had edged the Southwood Sabres of Cambridge in the semifinals.

 

A Girls

DELHI – The Emmanuel Christian Eagles of Fergus reached the final where they were edged 1-0 by the Woodland Christian Cavaliers of Breslau.

The District 4 champion Eagles had slipped by the Kincardine Knights 3-2 in overtime in the semifinals while Woodland Christian had dropped the Waterford Wolves 5-0 in the other semifinal.

AAA Boys

KITCHENER – The Orangeville Bears of the D10 league were dropped 5-1 in the final by the Cameron Heights Golden Gaels of Kitchener.

Jonathan Monney had a hat trick for Cameron Heights while Sebastian Stefan and Andy Normandeau added single goals.

Orangeville’s scorer was not reported.

Orangeville gained its berth in the final with a 1-0 win over the St. Mary’s Eagles of Kitchener in penalty kicks in the semifinals.

The other semifinal saw Cameron Heights nip the Sir John A. Macdonald Highlanders of Waterloo 2-1.

 

AA Boys

BRANTFORD – St. David Celtics of Waterloo claimed the title with a 1-0 win over the Bishop Macdonell Celtics in the final.

Ruben Solana scored the game’s only goal.

In the semifinals, St. David defeated the Westside Thunder of Orangeville and Bishop Mac disposed of the St. Mary’s Mustangs of Owen Sound.
