Emmanuel Christian to start A boys’ tourney Thursday

FORT ERIE – The Emmanuel Christian Eagles of Fergus are to start their quest for the OFSAA provincial high school boys’ A soccer title Thursday at noon.

The Eagles have been placed in a pool with De La Salle Oaklands of Toronto, Lester B. Pearson Patriots of Burlington, Renaissance Phoenix of Aurora and Jean Vanier Storm of Collingwood.

Thursday, the CWOSSA A champions are to play De La Salle at noon and Renaissance at 3 p.m. They’re to complete the preliminary round Friday with games against Pearson at 9:30 a.m. and Vanier at 12:30 p.m.

Top two in the pool advance to the quarter-finals Friday at 5:15 p.m.

Semifinals and medal games are scheduled for Saturday.

Other teams in the tournament are the Ridley College Tigers of St. Catharines, Nicholson Crusaders of Belleville, Mackenzie Mustangs of Deep River, Ronald-Marion Griffons of Pickering, Louis-Riel Les Rebelles of Ottawa, Timmins Blues, Notre-Dame Les Alouettes of Sudbury, Marathon Falcons, St. Paul Wolverines of Mississauga, Niagara Christian Navigators of Fort Erie, Guido de Bres Gryphons of Hamilton, John McGregor Panthers of Chatham, University of Toronto Schools Blues, Ursula Franklin Flames of Toronto and Holy Cross Raiders of St. Catharines.
