Erin Raiders capture CWOSSA A/AA boys’ hockey title

OWEN SOUND – The Erin Raiders have qualified for the OFSAA provincial high school A/AA boys’ hockey championship tournament.

The Raiders gained a berth in the OFSAA tournament by capturing the CWOSSA AA title Tuesday.

Erin defeated the St. David Celtics of Waterloo 4-1 in the final, scoring twice into an empty net.

The Raiders defeated the Holy Trinity Titans of Simcoe in the semifinals.

The OFSAA tournament is slated for March 20 to 23 at Fort Frances.

A/AA GIRLS HOCKEY

Kincardine Knights won the title by edging the St. David Celtics of Waterloo 3-2 in overtime in the final Tuesday at Owen Sound.

St. David defeated the Norwell Varsity Reds of Palmerston 5-4 in overtime in the semifinals.

The OFSAA tournament is to be held in Stratford March 21 to 24.

AAA BOYS HOCKEY

The Grand River Renegades of Kitchener claimed the championship by blanking the St. John’s Green Eagles of Brantford 6-0 in the final Tuesday at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.

Grand River slipped by the Huron Heights Huskies of Kitchener 6-4 in the semifinals while St. John’s blanked the District 4/10 champion Orangeville Bears 5-0 in the other semifinal.

The OFSAA tournament is set for Mississauga March 22 to 24.

AAA GIRLS HOCKEY

Brantford CI Mustangs captured the title with a 2-0 win over Huron Heights in the final.

The semifinals saw Brantford CI edge the Cameron Heights Gaels of Kitchener 2-1 and Huron Heights down the Elmira Lancers 5-3.

The OFSAA tournament is to be held in Mississauga March 22 to 24.
