Falcons hockey girls add to their lead

FERGUS – The Centre Wellington Falcons stretched their lead atop the District 10 high school girls’ hockey league standings Tuesday by dropping the Bishop Macdonell Celtics 11-0 at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex.

Cecilie Proctor, Sophia Battaglia and Keagan Jeffries recorded hat tricks for the Falcons while Abbey Zwep and Lynsey Goodwin also scored. Proctor also had five assists while Carson Lean, Goodwin, Maddy Bender, Kara den Hoed and Kate Maby had two apiece and Allison Campbell, Natalie Beilhartz, Grace Smith and Tianna Deitrich each had one.

Jacobi Barnett picked up the shutout.

Centre Wellington leads the league at 7-1-3 while Ross Royals are second at 6-1-2 and Centennial Spartans third at 3-2-5. Ross has two games in hand on the Falcons while Centennial has one.

Lourdes Crusaders and St. James Lions are tied for fourth with identical 3-3-3 records while Guelph CVI Green Gaels are sixth at 2-5-2 and Bishop Mac is seventh at 0-9-2.
