Field hockey Gryphons surrender late goals in tie with York
KINGSTON — The Guelph Gryphons yielded a pair of goals in the final eight minutes of the game as they settled for a 2-2 tie with the York Lions in OUA women’s field hockey play Saturday at Queen’s.
The Gryphs scored both of their goals in the first 15 minutes of the match.
Katherine MacMillan and Stephanie Kingsley struck for the goals for Guelph while Paige Warner and Sydney McFaul replied for York.
The tie is the first blemish on Guelph’s record as the Gryphs had won their previous six league games.
The Gryphs lead the league at 6-0-1 while the Toronto Varsity Blues are second at 6-1-0 and York is third at 3-1-1. The other four teams in the league have losing records.
The Gryphs are to play the McGill Martlets (0-5-0) Sunday at 9 a.m. at Queen’s.
