First league loss for Gryphon elite soccer women
WATERLOO – The Guelph Gryphons suffered their first loss of the Ontario Women’s Soccer League Provincial Elite season Thursday night when they were handed a 3-1 setback by the Waterloo Wildfire at Westmount Park.
Tori Hinchliffe scored the lone goal for the Gryphs.
Adrienne Goldsworthy, Laura Kay and Erynne Rowe each had a goal for Waterloo.
The result leaves the Gryphs at 4-1-2 while Waterloo improves to 3-2-1.
The Gryphs are to play the Woodbridge Strikers at Vaughan Tuesday at 9 p.m.
Ontario Women’s Soccer League
The Guelph Gryphons handed the Woodbridge Strikers a 3-1 setback Thursday night at Varsity Field.
Sara Van Den Akker, Hayley Howes and Rachyl MacPhail struck for a goal apiece for the Gryphs.
Woodbridge’s goal was scored by Ashley Osorio.
The win improves Guelph’s record to 4-1-1 while Woodbridge falls to 2-3-0.
The Gryphs are to play Caledon FC at Caledon Wednesday at 9 p.m.
Ontario Soccer League
The Guelph Gryphons were defeated 4-1 by HNNK Zagreb in league play Thursday night at Eastview Park.
Conall Rea scored the lone goal for the Gryphs.
Andrija Bago had a pair of goals for Zagreb while Jose Garcia and Tonko Bacelic also scored.
The loss was the fifth in as many league outings for the Gryphs while the win kept Zagreb undefeated at 3-0-1.
The Gryphs are to start a stretch of four consecutive road games Thursday when they tangle with HNNK Livno (1-2-0) at Milton at 9 p.m. They’re also to play HNNK Zagreb July 6, Lakeshore United (3-1-1) July 14 and HNNK Dalmacija (2-0-1) July 16. Next home game is July 20 against Olimpia Toronto (2-2-1) at Eastview Park.
