Galaxy dropped again in KDSL men’s play
GUELPH — Guelph Galaxy suffered their second consecutive 8-0 loss in KDSL men’s play Wednesday night as they were dropped by Stratford City at Centennial Bowl.
Galaxy had lost by an identical score to Listowel United Sunday at Listowel.
Mattias Wienecke had a hat trick for Stratford Wednesday while Aap Inthasian and Augustine Gayfloe scored twice apiece and Tyler Bailey added the other goal.
Galaxy has a 1-18-1 mark in their first season in the KDSL while Stratford is third at 12-2-4.
Galaxy has two games left in their season, both at home, as they’re to host fifth-place Hrvat (10-4-5) Sunday at 6 p.m. and ninth-place Owen Sound (5-14-1) Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. Both games are to be played at the Centennial Bowl.
OSL Provincial West
The Guelph Gryphons were edged 2-1 by Wisla United Tuesday at Oakville’s North Park.
Jonathan Swan scored the goal for the Gryphs.
Wisla United received goals from Rafal Rosicki and Dwight Clifton.
The result leaves the teams tied for ninth with the Gryphs at 3-11-2 and Wisla at 3-10-2. Both teams are in danger of being relegated at a regional league for next season.
Lakeshore United is seventh in the standings at 4-7-3 while Burlington Clash City is eighth at 4-8-1.
The Gryphs have two games to go in their season. They’re to host fifth-place HNNK Livno (6-6-2) Thursday at 8:45 p.m. at Eastview Park and play first-place HNNK Dalmacija (11-2-2) Sunday at 6 p.m. at Oakville’s North Park.
If the Gryphs are relegated, it’ll likely be into the Regional South that includes the Guelph Oaks.
