Gargoyles clubbed by Broadview

GUELPH – The Grand River Gargoyles were downed 79-34 by the Broadview Hawks in Australian Football League Ontario play Saturday at Margaret Greene Park.

The Hawks grabbed the lead in the first quarter and never let it go. They were up 13-0 at the end of the opening quarter, 38-20 at halftime and 48-27 after the third quarter.

Greg Logel kicked a pair of goals for the Gargs while Sam Wood, David Aylward and Kyle Mundell had one apiece.

Nathan Cragg had four goals for Broadview while Nicholas Shuttleworth, Jacob Nabi and James Kenyon-Brown each had two and Conor Dullard had one.

The Gargs are in 10th in the 10-team league with a 2-7-0 record and 48.12 percentage. Broadview’s fifth at 4-4-0 and 83.55% while the Toronto Rebels lead at 8-0-0 and 316.59%.

Next game for the Gargs is Aug. 12 when they’re to play the Etobicoke Kangaroos () at Etobicoke. Game time is 2 p.m.
