Gargs knocked down by Toronto Dingos

GUELPH – The Grand River Gargoyles fell to seventh in the nine-team AFL Ontario with an 83-52 loss to the Toronto Dingos Saturday at Margaret Greene Park.

The win moved the Dingos to fifth place at 4-5-0 and 89.01 percentage while the Gargs fell to 3-6-0 and 76.46 percentage.

The Gargs led 25-16 at the end of the first quarter before the Dingos shot ahead 36-26 by the end of the second quarter. The game remained close in the third quarter with the Dingos carrying a 56-45 lead into the fourth quarter.

Elijah Fischer and Sam Wood had two goals each for the Gargs while Ben Knowles, Michael Fischer, Greg Logel and Dave Maurer each scored one.

Rob McNaughton led the Dingos with five goals while Michael Ladd added four. Getting one apiece were Sean O’Reilly, Thomas Santibanez-Espinosa and Eoghan Bergin.

The Gargs are to face the Ottawa Swans (8-0-0, 540.83 percentage) at Ottawa’s Manotick Polo Club Saturday at 2 p.m.
