GCVI all alone atop senior girls’ volleyball standings

FERGUS – The Guelph CVI Green Gaels stand alone atop the District 10 high school senior girls’ volleyball league following a sweep of the Centre Wellington Falcons Tuesday at Centre Wellington.

The Gaels are the lone undefeated team in the league and have dropped one set all season.

They swept the Falcons 3-0, winning 25-11, 25-17, 25-13.

GCVI (5-0) is to complete the first half of the season with matches against the Orangeville Bears (0-5) and Centennial Spartans (4-1).

Centennial’s second in the standings while the Lourdes Crusaders, Ross Royals and St. James Lions are tied for third with 3-2 records. Bishop Macdonell Celtics and Centre Wellington are both at 1-4.

JUNIOR

St. James handed Orangeville its first loss of the season as the Lions prevailed 3-1.

The Lions won 25-17, 17-25, 25-19, 25-15.

That result combined with a 3-2 win for Centre Wellington over GCVI left Orangeville and Centre Wellington tied for first at 4-1. GCVI, Ross and St. James are tied for second at 3-2 and they’re followed by Bishop Mac at 2-3, Centennial at 1-4 and Lourdes at 0-5.
