GCVI hockey boys work OT for first win

GUELPH – The Guelph CVI Green Gaels hit for their first win in their return to District 4/10 high schools boys’ hockey play Thursday when they edged the Centennial Spartans 5-4 in overtime at Centennial arena.

The Gaels are back in the league this season after taking last season off.

Alex MacIntyre struck for a pair of goals for the Gaels while Colin Livingston, Jacob Elmes and Owen Stemerdink added single goals.

Jacob Wereley had two goals for the Spartans while Jacob Neamtu and Lukas Mielen also scored.

The result left GCVI at 1-3-0-0 and Centennial at 0-1-0-1.

 

Centre Wellington 5 Ross 1

Centre Wellington won for the second time in as many league outings this season as they toppled Ross at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex.

The Falcons received goals from Brett Harrison, Owen Ristov, Dean Sealey, Mitch Bernier and Kyle Detweiler.

Blaise Shaw scored for Ross.

The loss was the third in as many games for the Royals who haven’t faced a Guelph-based opponent in league play this season. Other losses were to the Erin Raiders and Orangeville Bears.
