GCVI moves to top of field hockey ladder

GUELPH – A win and a tie Wednesday at Varsity Field gave the Guelph CVI Green Gaels first place in the District 4/10 high schools girls’ field hockey league.

The Gaels battled the Bishop Macdonell Celtics to a scoreless tie and downed the Centennial Spartans 4-0.

The results leave GCVI atop the league at 5-0-1 while Bishop Mac is second at 3-1-2.

The Ross Royals are third, but have two games in hand as they’ve won all four of their matches. Ross is to make those games up Friday with matches against the Orangeville Bears and Centre Dufferin Royals.
