GCVI secures grip on first place in senior volleyball

GUELPH – The Guelph CVI Green Gaels guaranteed themselves of holding first place in the District 10 high schools senior girls’ volleyball league’s standings throughout the Christmas break after sweeping the Centennial Spartans Tuesday.

The Gaels remained the only undefeated team in the eight-team league when they swept Centennial 3-0. GCVI won 25-20, 25-18, 25-15.

GCVI tops the standings at 7-0 at the midway point of the season while the Ross Royals and Centennial Spartans are tied for second at 5-2. Bishop Macdonell Celtics and St. James Lions are tied for fourth at 4-4 while Lourdes Crusaders are at 3-4, Centre Wellington Falcons sixth at 1-6 and Orangeville Bears eighth at 0-7.

All teams are to wrap up their pre-Christmas schedule with a game apiece Thursday.
