Girls’ rugby winners blank their opponents

GUELPH – The winners in District 4/10 high school girls’ rugby league play Monday all had blanking good times as all four posted shutout victories.

The Ross Royals defeated the Erin Raiders 570 to clinch a first-place finish while the Orangeville Bears downed the Westside Thunder by an identical 570 score. Guelph CVI Green Gaels shut out the Wellington Heights Wolverines 220 and the Centre Wellington Falcons downed the Centennial Spartans 200 for their first win of the season.

Vanessa Thongsomsanith scored three tries for Ross while Jasmine Ing had two tries and a convert. Aliesha Lewis added two tries while single tries were recorded by Tessa McHattie, Aniela Breen, Emily Frasson and Victoria Liebig. Ross is ranked third in the province.

 

Orangeville 57 Westside 0

Jessica Gribbon and Marjka Luce scored two tries apiece for Orangeville while Sydney Trewartha and Leah Inglis each added three converts. Getting one try apiece were Emma Wells, Eryn Bonney-Brookman, Sara Foullong, Miranda Scianitti and Hannah MacLeod.

 

Guelph CVI 22 Wellington Heights 0

Caitlin Kroetsch scored a pair of tries for Guelph CVI while Lou Meloche and Maddie Chinnery had one each and Sarah Ramage added a convert.

 

Centre Wellington 20 Centennial 0

Jodi Richards connected for three tries for Centre Wellington while Heather Vink scored one.

Bowen Wyminga contributed a try and two converts for Centre Wellington while Russell Dyce and Jake Malyk each had one try.

Quintin Kleppe led Ross with two tries while Jordan Bauer had three converts. Others tries were scored by Joe Barnardi, Leo Finoro and Seamus Harvey.

Ryan Downey and Evan Ridley each scored a try for Erin while Danny Webber had a convert.

 

Guelph CVI 22 Centre Dufferin 5

Spencer Bond had a try and a convert for Guelph CVI while single tries were added by Sam Steinhauser, Aaron Pacha and Josh Tran.

Caleb Jonker scored a try for Centre Dufferin.

 

Junior Boys

Ander Larrauri had a try and two converts for Guelph CVI while Brendan Inthalvaly, Cam Saunders, Nico Carere and Will Ireland each scored one try.

Nathon Gray and Levi Abel scored one try apiece for Centre Dufferin.

Alvero Da Blaise hit for a try and two converts for Ross while Alex Coole, Dalton Wheeler and Duff Matheson added one try apiece.

Jordan Tutt scored two tries for Erin while Ethan Seifried scored one and Malcolm Alderdice added two converts.
