Gryphon field hockey women blank McGill

TORONTO – The Guelph Gryphons scored three goals in each half on their way to a 6-0 victory over the McGill Martlets in OUA women’s field hockey play Saturday on the University of Toronto’s Back Field.

Morgan Kelley picked up the shutout for the Gryphs.

Kayla Magarelli led Guelph with a hat trick while Olivia Finch, Kendra Puttick and Rebecca Plouffe also scored.

The result leaves the Gryphs in second at 6-1-2 and McGill sixth at 3-9-0.

The Gryphs are to play three times next week to complete their regular season. They’re to host the Western Mustangs (3-4-1) Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Varsity Field and play the Toronto Varsity Blues (5-3-2) and Waterloo Warriors (1-7-1) next Sunday during a mini-tournament hosted by the league-leading York Lions (9-1-0).
