Gryphon field hockey women blank McGill

KINGSTON — The Guelph Gryphons connected for four goals in each half as they dropped the McGill Martlets 8-0 in OUA women’s field hockey play Sunday at Queen’s.

Three of the first-half goals were scored in a span of 12 minutes while all four scored in the second half were during a stretch of 19 minutes.

Katherine MacMillan and Olivia Lane scored twice each while single goals were added by Alexa Corrado, Olivia Finch, Rudi Ballard and Ciara Condon.

Morgan Kelley was credited with the shutout.

The Gryphs lead the league at 7-0-1 while the Toronto Varsity Blues are second at 7-1-0 and York Lions are third at 4-1-1.

Next game for the Gryphs is Wednesday when they’re to host York at Varsity Field. Game time is 7:30 p.m. The Gryphs and Lions tied 2-2 at Queen’s Saturday.
