Gryphon field hockey women give McGill a blanking
TORONTO — The Guelph Gryphons struck for three goals in the first half on their way to a 5-0 triumph over the McGill Martletts in OUA field hockey play Sunday at the University of Toronto’s Back Campus Fields.
Katherine MacMillan of the Gryphs scored twice in the first eight minutes of the game.
Stephanie Kingsley also had a pair of goals as she scored late in the first half and late in the second half.
Ciara Condon had the game’s other goal.
Morgan Kelley was in net for the win.
MacMillan’s goals give her six for the season, second in the league scoring race behind teammate Olivia Lane who has nine.
The Gryphs and Toronto Varsity Blues are tied for first in the seven-team league. Guelph is at 5-0-0 and has a game in hand on the Varsity Blues who are at 5-1-0. The York Lions are third at 3-1-0, the only other team in the league with a winning record. McGill is seventh at 0-3-0.
The Gryphs are to host the Waterloo Warriors (1-3-1) Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Varsity Field.
