Gryphon field hockey women thump McGill

LONDON, Ont. – The Guelph Gryphons received goals from six players as they opened their OUA women’s field hockey season with an 8-0 victory over the McGill Redmen Saturday at Western’s TD Stadium.

The Gryphs scored four goals in each half with one each half on a corner hit.

Kayla Magarelli and Rebecca Plouffe scored twice each while single goals were netted by Danielle Crumpton, Alexa Corrado, Olivia Finch and Maria Murray.

The Gryphs are to play twice on their own Varsity Field Sunday as they’re to tangle with the Toronto Varsity Blues at 10:45 a.m. and the Queen’s Gaels at 2:15 p.m.

Other matches Sunday at Varsity Field are Queen’s against McGill at 9 a.m., Western against McGill at 12:30 p.m. and Waterloo against Toronto at 4 p.m.
