Gryphon hockey men doubled by Concordia
MONTREAL – A pair of power-play goals proved to be the difference as the Guelph Gryphons suffered their third consecutive loss in OUA men’s hockey league play at Montreal’s Ed Meagher Arena.
The Concordia Stingers scored twice with a manpower advantage in a 4-2 win over the Gryphs Saturday night.
Concordia led 2-1 at the end of the first period and 3-2 after the second.
Todd Winder scored both goals for Guelph while Reilly O’Connor had an assist.
Charles-Eric Legare, Anthony Beauregard, Alexis Pepin and Carl Neill each had a goal for Concordia while assists were given to Massima Carozza, Curtis Gass, Scott Oke, Antoine Masson and Alexandre Gosselin.
Concordia outshot the Gryphs 39-31 and went 2-for-10 on its power play while Guelph was scoreless on seven power plays.
Jason Da Silva took the loss in net for the Gryphs while Antoine Dagenais picked up the win for Concordia. He replace starter Marc-Antoine Turcotte at 9:12 of the second period after Guelph tied it 2-2.
The Gryphs fall to 1-2-1 with the loss while Concordia improves to 3-0-1.
Next up for the Gryphs is a game against the Western Mustangs (1-2-0) Thursday at the Gryphon Centre. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
