Gryphon hockey women blanked by Concordia
MONTREAL – The Guelph Gryphons were dropped 7-0 by the Concordia Stingers in their opening game at the Theresa Humes Invitational university women’s hockey tournament Friday night at the Ed Meagher Arena.
The sixth-ranked Stingers scored two goals in the first period and three in the second on their way to the win over the eighth-ranked Gryphons.
Stephanie Lalancette had two goals and two assists for Concordia while Stingers goaltender Katherine Purchase stopped 18 shots to get the shutout.
In other games, Les Étoiles doubled the McGill Martlets 6-3 and the Vermont Catamounts dropped the Ryerson Rams 8-2.
Les Étoiles is a group of all-star players from the Montreal area.
The Gryphs are to play Vermont Saturday at 3 p.m. and McGill Sunday at 11 a.m.
