Gryphon hockey women topple McGill in tourney

MONTREAL – The Guelph Gryphons wrapped up the Theresa Humes university women’s hockey tournament with a 5-3 win over the McGill Martlets Sunday at Ed Meagher Arena.

Kelly Gribbons, Karli Shell, Ashlee Lawrence, Kaitlin Lowy and Sydney Davison connected for a goal apiece for the Gryphons while Aurore Beaulieu had 36 saves in the Guelph net.

The Gryphs finish the tournament with a win and two losses, one in overtime.

Guelph is fourth in the OUA league with a 23-7-1-4 record.

The Gryphs are to return to league play Wednesday with a game against the Laurier Golden Hawks (1-1-8-1) at the Gryphon Centre. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
