Gryphon lacrosse women downed by Toronto

KINGSTON – The Guelph Gryphons suffered their first loss of the OUA women’s lacrosse season when they were handed a 6-2 setback by the Toronto Varsity Blues on the Queen’s University campus Sunday.

The Gryphs had won a pair of games Saturday as they defeated UOIT Ridgebacks and York Lions.

The results leave the Gryphs third at 2-1, trailing only the Laurier Golden Hawks and Queen’s Gaels who both recorded three wins in three outings.

Toronto, Trent Excalibur and Brock Badgers are each at 1-1 while the McMaster Marauders didn’t play on the weekend. York and Western Mustangs are both at 0-2 and UOIT is at 0-3.

Next up for the Gryphons are their lone home games of the season Sunday as they’re to host Brock at 8:30 a.m. and Laurier at 12 p.m.

Those games are part of five league games to be played at Varsity Field that day. In the other games, McMaster is to play Western at 10:15 a.m., Western is to play Brock at 1:45 p.m. and Laurier is to play McMaster at 3:30 p.m.
