Gryphon rugby men pound Brock Badgers
ST. CATHARINES – Three players struck for two tries apiece as the Guelph Gryphons dumped the Brock Badgers 70-0 in OUA men’s rugby play Friday night at Brock.
The Gryphs scored 50 points in the first half as they rebounded from last week’s loss to the Queen’s Gaels.
Erich Milne, Dalton Campbell and Jack Cheshire each had two tries while John Sheridan added a try and five converts. Alexander Williamson also had a try.
Queen’s leads the league at 6-0 while the Gryphs and Laurier Golden Hawks are both at 5-1. Brock and the RMC Paladins are tied for eighth at 1-5.
Friday’s win secured a playoff berth for the Gryphs. Top six qualify for the post season and top two get byes in the quarter-finals.
The Gryphs are to host the Trent Excalibur Friday at 7 p.m. at Varsity Field and complete their regular season Oct. 20 with a game against Laurier at Waterloo.
