Gryphon rugby men shut out Trent

PETERBOROUGH – The Guelph Gryphons rolled to a 44-0 victory over the Trent Excalibur in OUA men’s rugby play Saturday at Trent.

The Gryphs received two tries apiece from James Caylor, Marcello Wainwright and Julian Crowe and one each from while Giacomo Passarelli and MacLain Wakefield.

The win leaves the Gryphs second in the league at 6-1 while the loss keeps 10th-place Trent winless at 0-7.

The Gryphs, who have clinched a playoff berth, are to complete their regular season Friday with a game against the fourth-place Western Mustangs (5-2) at Varsity Field. Game time is 8 pm.
