Gryphon soccer men slip by Brock

ST. CATHARINES – The Guelph Gryphons rallied to top the Brock Badgers 2-1 in OUA men’s soccer play Friday at Brock.

Alexander Makubuya opened the scoring for Brock in the 19th minute before Youssef Zaghloul pulled the Gryphons even 17 minute later.

Conor O’Callaghan hit for the game-winner for the Gryphs in the 65th minute.

The Gryphs took eight shots in the match, one more than Brock.

Simon Norgrove collected the win in the Guelph net.

With the victory, the Gryphs improved to 9-2-1 to move into a tie for first in the West Division with the York Lions. Brock fell to 5-6-1.

The Gryphs have four games remaining in their regular season including three home games. Wednesday, the Gryphs are to host the third-place McMaster Marauders (8-3-1) at the Gryphons Soccer Complex at 8:15 p.m.
