Gryphon soccer women edged by Waterloo

GUELPH – A goal in the 73rd minute was the only goal of the game as the Guelph Gryphons were edged 1-0 by the Waterloo Warriors in OUA women’s soccer play Sunday at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.

Ciara Dunne scored that goal for Waterloo.

Madison McDonald made five saves in the Waterloo net for the shutout.

Libby Brenneman made two saves in the Guelph net.

The Gryphs outshot Waterloo 10-4 and Guelph had five shots reach their target while Waterloo had three.

Guelph is second in the West Division at 6-3-1 while Waterloo is third at 4-1-4 and the Western Mustangs lead at 8-1-0.

The Gryphs are to host the Laurier Golden Hawks (3-2-4) Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.
