Gryphon soccer women win one of three vs. Niagara

ST. CATHARINES – The Guelph Gryphons ran to a 3-0 victory over Niagara United in Ontario Women’s Soccer League play at Brock University Tuesday.

The Gryphs received goals from Delaney Rickert-Hall, Victoria Hinchliffe and Sydney Johnson.

The result leaves the Gryphs at 2-0-1 and Niagara at 0-2-1.

The Gryphs have a pair of games next week as they’re to host Vaughan Azzuri (1-1-0) Tuesday at the Gryphon Soccer Complex and play the Richmond Hill Raiders (0-1-0) at Downsview Park June 9. Both games carry 9 p.m. starting times.

 

Provincial U21 South

Both Gryphon squads in the division suffered 1-0 losses to Niagara United opponents Tuesday.

The Gryphons Black lost to NU White while the Gryphons Red lost to NU Blue.

Sydney Sica scored for NU White while Megan Morris had the goal for NU Blue.

While the game was the first of the season for Gryphons Red, the loss leave Gryphons Black at 1-1-0.NU Blue is at 2-0-1 and NU White is at 1-1-1.

The Gryphons-NU matches continue Thursday as Gryphons Black are to host NU Blue at Centennial Bowl and Gryphons Red are to play NU White at Niagara. Both games are to start at 9 p.m.

 

KDSL Women’s Division

The Guelph Gryphons Red dropped Guelph Gryphons Black 7-0 in league cup play Wednesday night at Marden Park.

Goal scorers were not reported.

The game was the first KDSL match of the season for Gryphons Red. They’re to host Wildfire (2-0-0) in league play June 7 at Marden Park starting at 9 p.m.

Gryphons Black, who are 0-1-0 in league play, are to play Banat at Kitchener June 11 at 2 p.m.

Gryphons Red and Black are to meet again, this time in league play, at Marden Park June 14 at 9 p.m.
