Gryphon squads claim women’s soccer victories

GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons ran to their second victory over the Richmond Hill Raiders in five days Tuesday night at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.

The Gryphs captured a 3-0 win over Richmond Hill in Ontario Women’s Soccer League Provincial Elite play on their home field Tuesday.

Sydney Johnson scored two of the goals while Jacqueline Goulart scored the other one.

The Gryphs had defeated Richmond Hill 2-0 in a road game Friday night.

The Guelph squad leads the league at 4-0-2 while Richmond Hill trails at 0-4-1.

Next game for the Gryphs is a match against the Waterloo Wildfire (2-1-1) at Waterloo’s Westmount Park June 22 at 9 p.m.

 

OWSL Provincial South

HAMILTON – The Guelph Gryphons dropped Hamilton Sparta 5-1 at Hamilton’s Mohawk Park Tuesday night.

Hayley Howes connected for a pair of goals for Guelph while single goals were added by Elisa Oliveira, Rachyl MacPhail and Sam Taylor.

Stephanie Roberts scored for Hamilton.

The result leaves the Gryphs at 3-1-1 and Sparta at 0-2-1.

The Gryphs are to host the Woodbridge Strikers (2-0-0) at the Gryphon Soccer Complex June 22 at 9 p.m.
