Gryphon volleyball men swept aside by McMaster
HAMILTON – The Guelph Gryphons were swept aside by the seventh-ranked McMaster Marauders 3-0 in OUA men’s volleyball play Friday night at McMaster’s Burridge Gymnasium.
The Marauders, who won for the ninth consecutive time, defeated Guelph 25-20, 25-18, 25-15.
McMaster had 43 kills, four aces, 30 digs and seven blocks while the Gryphs had 33 kills, one ace, 18 digs and two blocks.
Jared Harris led the Gryphs with seven kills and two digs while Zach Newman had six kills and four digs and Kendrick Kerr had six kills and one dig. Sam Kloke had 14 assists, an ace, a dig and a block and Jackson Patterson had two kills and a block.
Andrew Richards had 11 kills, three aces, seven digs and two blocks for McMaster while Matt Passalent had 11 kills, an ace, a dig and a block. Brandon Koppers followed with eight kills and four digs while Jordan Pereira had three assists and six digs and David Doty had two kills, 28 assists, six digs and a block.
McMaster leads the West Division at 9-1 while Guelph is tied for fourth at 4-6.
The Gryphs are to host the Brock Badgers (0-9) Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre.
