Gryphon volleyball men swept by Alberta

GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons suffered another close loss to a Canada West opponent in their own Guelph Gryphons Invitational men’s volleyball tournament Saturday at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Complex.

The Gryphs were swept by the Alberta Golden Bears, losing 25-22, 34-32, 25-21.

Friday night the Gryphs were defeated 3-1 by the defending U Sports champion Trinity Western Spartans of Langley, B.C.

In other games Saturday, Trinity Western defeated Queen’s 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-23) and the Laval Rouge et Or dropped the Waterloo Warriors 3-1 (25-22, 25-20, 20-25, 25-15).

The tournament is to wrap up Sunday with a trio of games. Queen’s is to play Alberta at 9 a.m., Trinity Western is to battle with Waterloo at 11 a.m. and the Gryphs are to tangle with Laval at 1 p.m.
