Gryphon volleyball women swept by McMaster

GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons were swept aside 3-0 by the McMaster Marauders in OUA women’s volleyball play Saturday night at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre.

McMaster won 25-15, 25-22, 25-22.

Jessica Gormley had eight kills, an ace, three digs and four blocks for the Gryphs while Hazel Atkins had nine kills and 11 digs. Logan Garrick had five kills, two aces and a dig and Jessica Chung had five kills and three digs, Laura Duncan four kills, an ace and two digs, Alex Curran one kill, 26 assists, an ace, six digs and a block, Kayla McMullen three assists and seven digs and Tara Tanasijevic 10 digs.

Maicee Sorensen had 12 kills, three aces, three digs and two blocks to lead McMaster. Hailey Kranics had eight kills, two aces, six digs and two blocks while Rachel Woock added seven kills, an ace, 10 digs and two blocks. Joanna Jedrzejewska had five kills and six digs and Caitlin Genovy had 26 assists, an ace and four digs.

The result leaves McMaster at 2-1 and the Gryphs at 0-4.

The Gryphs are to play the Queen’s Gaels (2-0) at Kingston Friday at 6 p.m. in the first of four consecutive road game.
