Gryphons KDSL women blanked by Wildfire

WATERLOO – The Guelph Gryphons were handed a 3-0 setback by Waterloo Wildfire in Kitchener and District Soccer League Women’s Division play Sunday at Bechtel Park.

Brittany Almeida, Jess Gemmell and Kat Sawyer scored a goal apiece for Waterloo.

The Wildfire lead the league at 2-0-0 while the Gryphons drop to 0-2-0 as the Gryphons had earlier lost 4-1 to Banat FC at Marden Park.

Laura Baer scored the goal for Guelph while Banat received two goals from both Brooke Logel and Catherine Vanderburgh.

The Gryphons are to play Stratford CT at Stratford’s Festival Hydro Park June 6 at 8:30 p.m.

 

Men’s Division

The Gryphons were downed 4-1 by Stratford City in Men’s Division play Friday at Stratford’s Festival Hydro Park June 6 at 8:30 p.m.

Scoring details were not reported.

The game was the league opener for both teams.

Next up for the Gryphons is a match against Riverside FC Wednesday at Kitchener’s Budd Park starting at 9 p.m.
