Gryphons Schaffer-Baker, Woodmansey on all-rookie team

GUELPH — Two members of the Guelph Gryphons were named to the OUA football league’s all-rookie team Tuesday.

Gryphons selected to the team were receiver Kian Schaffer-Baker and offensive lineman Coulter Woodmansey.

Schaffer-Baker led the Gryphs with 388 yards in receiving during the regular season. He played all eight regular-season games and caught 20 passes, including three for 91 yards in the season-opening win over the Toronto Varsity Blues. He scored one touchdown, in the Week 8 game at Laurier. He also caught two passes for 36 yards in the playoff loss to McMaster.

The game against Laurier also saw the hard-working, 6-foot-5, 325-pound Woodmansey get his first start of his OUA career. A regular on the dress roster in his rookie season, Woodmansey is expected to challenge for a starting role next season.
